The 2024 summer swim season is just around the corner and we are excited to welcome all of our returning and new swimmers! Here is some important information on fees, dates, and how we run our team. The Chadds Walk Tidal Waves Swim Team is a Cobb County Summer Swim League (CCSSL) team open to children ages 4-18 (as of 5/31/24). Registration fees are per child and include ribbons, a team medal, instruction, and participation in five league meets (except the 4-year-olds, who will do practice only). The team is self-sufficient and relies entirely on parent participation. All programs are funded from registration fees and concession profits.

We are happy to once again offer a once a week night practice option for kids who are unavailable during the day. Just like previous years, during registration you will select either morning practice or night practice and cannot switch between them. We are excited to once again offer a “Rookies” program for our under 5 swimmers who won’t participate in Cobb County meets, but will practice with the team and receive a medal and award at the end of the season.

Participating in swim team gives your child an excellent opportunity to build endurance, get more comfortable in the water, and be part of a fun, supportive team! It is also a great value for an activity that is daily for 7 weeks. Please remember that swim team is different from private swim lessons. The ratio of swimmers to instructor is much higher and it is not possible to offer as much individual instruction on swim team. Swimmers MUST be able to swim independently, without the use of a flotation device, in the deep end prior to attending the first practice.

We are once again using a website called Swimtopia that will allow you to register & pay online, access practice and meet schedules, sign up for volunteer shifts once posted, and more. No more searching through endless emails to find what you’re looking for—it’s all online.

We also highly recommend downloading the Swimtopia mobile app and enabling notifications, which will allow you to easily access alerts and information for meets, and swimmer results when the time comes. We will again be using the app this year to push out any urgent team messages (weather changes, etc.).

2024 Tidal Wave Registration Fees

Please note that dues are slightly increased for 1st swimmers in each family because we will no longer be asking for concessions goods donations. We are including those costs to take off an errand run for you!

MORNING PRACTICE:

$170 – First Swimmer – ages 5-14 ($125 for each additional swimmer in family) 

$45 – Per Swimmer – ages 15-18

*If a swimmer is not a member of the Chadds Walk HOA, then there is a non-member fee of $20 per child.

NIGHT PRACTICE (once per week):

$145 – First Swimmer – ages 5-14 ($100 for each additional swimmer in family) 

$45 – Per Swimmer – ages 15-18 

*If a swimmer is not a member of the Chadds Walk HOA, then there is a non-member fee of $20 per child.

ROOKIES (morning practice only, age 4-5 swimmers as of 5/31/2024, no swim meets)

$115 - No Cobb County Swim League or concessions fees added

Team Suits and Gear

Our Tidal Wave team suit for the 2024 season will be the Speedo St Vortex Maze Flyback (Blue), which is new this year (our prior year’s suit was discontinued), and can be ordered through the registration link. We will be hosting a team try-on at Edgemere clubhouse (4327 Edgemere Dr Marietta, GA 30062) from 2:15-4:00pm on Saturday, April 20 but the suits are also already available to be tried on at Kiefer Aquatics (formerly All-American Swim) at 885 Woodstock Road, Suite 400, Roswell GA 30075. We highly recommend trying on at the store prior to April 20 if you are unable to attend the try-on, to ensure your suit is ready for the first swim meet. Tidal Wave suits are strongly suggested, but not required.

The cost for female suits is $50.00 and male suits is $42.00.

Swimmers will also need goggles and swim caps (optional). We offer swim caps with the Chadds Walk Tidal Waves logo for our team and there is an option to order a swim cap($10) when you register. 

If your swimmer would like a Tidal Waves t-shirt to wear at meets, you can order one when registering. We will also have the adult shirts (tanks and regular) available!

Parent Participation

Our swim team relies entirely on parent participation in order to have successful swim meets. Each family needs a representative to volunteer for one shift for each swim meet in which your child is participating. Sign-ups for volunteer jobs are available on the Sign Up page now, and there is more information about what each job entails there as well. We do need someone to raise their hand to serve as meet announcer for home meets. If you are willing/interested, please talk to us and we can get you up to speed! ________________________________________________________________

Practices will be held Monday through Friday, rain or shine – we ONLY cancel if there is thunder. If practice is canceled, we will send an email, post a message in our Facebook group & notify via Swimtopia app. Otherwise, assume practice and meets are on.AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICES -Monday, 5/13 - Tuesday, 5/21

• 7-8 year olds 4:00-4:30
• 9-10 year olds 4:30-5:00
• 4-6 year olds 5:00-5:30
• 11 and up 5:30-6:00

Night practice group, all ages 6:00-6:45 - May 14th and May 21st only

*NO PRACTICE: Last day of School (CCSD), Wednesday May 22nd

** FIRST MEET THURSDAY, MAY 30th

MORNING PRACTICES: Thursday, May 23 - Wednesday, June 26*

Practice times Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays (“Regular”) will be:

• 4-6 year olds 8:30-9:00
• 7-8 year olds 9:00-9:45
• 9-10 year olds 9:45-10:30
• 11 and up 10:30-11:15

*No practice on Memorial Day, 5/27

Practice times on Thursdays and Friday 5/31 (“Fun Swim”) will be:

• 6-8 year olds - 10:00 - 10:45
• 9 and up 10:45 - 11:30

NIGHT PRACTICES: Tuesday Nights, May 14th - June 25th

All ages 6:00 - 7:00pm

*INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN FOR MEETS! In the event of inclement weather, we will have a make-up meet the following Friday or Monday at the same time and same place! If we finish at least the half of our meet (through Event 46), we won’t reschedule. If it is only raining, the meet will be held. If it thunders, the meet will be postponed for 30 minutes and the pool deck must be cleared.
