Place Judge
Best seat in the house! Warning: you may get wet! This job entails judging who finishes and in which order for each race. You have a first-row seat for your child's events and will sit next to the place judge of the other team. You will NOT be judging strokes or disqualifications - that's the referee's job.
- Before the meet begins, you will pick up your supplies and the check-in table and report to the meeting that the Official calls for all Timers and Place Judges.
- There will be a Chadds Walk Place Judge assigned to each corner of the pool. who is paired up with a Place Judge from the other team.
- One Place Judge writes the results and the other calls them out. These jobs need to be alternated at each corner. If you are writing the results and the other team is calling them out, then the Chadds Walk Place Judge on the other side of the pool from you needs to be calling them out and having the other team’s Place Judge writing them down. The Scorekeepers and the Official will handle any differences between the two sets of Place Judges.
- The Place Judge who is not writing calls out the race by lane, in the order of the lane that finishes first, second third, fourth. For Example, they may call out “2,4,1,3.” Which means Lane 2 came in first; Lane 4 came in second, etc.
- If you are writing the results, hold up the Event card for the Runner to pick up.
- Bring a towel because you can get wet!
- At the end of your shift, give the clipboard to your replacement or return it to the Volunteer Coordinator at the end of the meet.
- If you are taking over for the second shift, be sure to be ON TIME!!
