Looking
for a volunteer job where you can sit in the shade and be the first to know the
standings of each race? The scoring and ribbons volunteer role is exactly what
you’re looking for!
Runners
deliver the place cards and times for each race to the scoring table, and the
scorers enter the times and lane places into the computer. Volunteers will
partner with their counterpart on the opposing team to ensure all agree on
event places and times. The referee is the ultimate authority for any
discrepancies.
The
ribbon volunteers then review the computer scores for each race, and place
pre-printed swimmer labels on the appropriate place ribbon. The volunteer then
files the ribbons in the appropriate swimmers folder for celebratory pick up at
practice the next day. Our goal is to get all ribbons labeled and filed by the
end of the meet.
Parents will be able to sneak away during their shift
to watch their child(ren) compete. It’s a great, high reward volunteer role!
